Electrical Installation

Whether you're building new, renovating, or adding to your home, getting the electrical installation right from the start saves headaches down the track. We deliver clean, compliant wiring that meets Australian Standards and is built to last.

What's Included

  • Electrical design and layout planning with builder or homeowner
  • Cable rough-in during frame stage
  • Switchboard installation and circuit allocation
  • Power point and switch installation
  • Lighting circuit wiring and fitting installation
  • Dedicated circuits for high-draw appliances
  • Final connection, testing, and compliance certificate

Electrical installation is the backbone of any new build or major renovation. Getting it right during the rough-in stage is critical — cables run through walls, floors, and ceilings are difficult and expensive to change once the plaster is up. We work closely with builders, homeowners, and designers to plan power point locations, lighting circuits, switch positions, and dedicated circuits for appliances like ovens, heat pumps, and hot water systems before any cable is pulled.

For new builds, we handle everything from the meter box and main switchboard through to the last power point and light fitting. For renovations and additions, we integrate new circuits with existing wiring, upgrade switchboards where needed, and ensure the whole system meets current AS/NZS 3000 requirements. We also rough-in for future needs — running conduit for EV chargers, pre-wiring for outdoor entertaining areas, and adding capacity for future solar installations.

We work on residential projects across Hobart, from heritage renovations in Sandy Bay and South Hobart through to new builds in Howrah, Kingston, and the Northern Suburbs. Whatever the scale, every installation is tested to compliance and signed off with the appropriate certificates for your builder, building surveyor, or council.

Frequently Asked Questions

When should the electrician be involved in a renovation?
As early as possible — ideally at the design stage. Once we know the floor plan and where appliances, lighting, and switches will go, we can plan cable runs efficiently. Getting involved after framing is closed up means more time and cost to retrofit wiring.
Can you add more power points to an existing home without a full rewire?
In most cases, yes. We can add power points, data points, and lighting circuits to existing homes by running new cable from the switchboard. The feasibility depends on access to roof spaces and wall cavities, which we'll assess during a site visit.
What compliance certificates do I get?
Every electrical installation receives a Certificate of Compliance (CoC) as required by Tasmanian regulations. This document certifies the work meets AS/NZS 3000 and is required by building surveyors for occupancy permits. We lodge the certificate with the relevant authority and provide you with a copy.
Do you work with builders, or direct with homeowners?
Both. We regularly work as the electrical subcontractor on residential builds and renovations, coordinating with builders on scheduling and staging. We're equally happy to work directly with homeowners on smaller projects like granny flat fit-outs or garage conversions.
